Born in Brazil (August 3, 1962) , he’s been painting for almost 18 years. With a major in Business he gained a strong corporate background in the fashion business; both, as a designer as well as an executive. However, in 1999 he left everything behind and chose to take to the canvas. 1989 was a turning point in his life. Among hundreds of artists, he was one of the few artists chosen by the “Museu do Estado de Pernanmbuco”, in Recife Brazil, to represent rising new talents. This accolade was instrumental in his later decision to devote himself to being a full time artist. He’s also a member of the Art Students League of New York.
"Painting, to me, is basically an intuitive process. I always find myself guided by intuition and led by emotion. After brainstorming feelings and memories, each one of my paintings evolves freely and independently. Even though some of them could be identified as figurative or landscaping portrayals, I ought to "label" them all simply as "Abstract Expressionist”; for they are a result of my personal insight, frustrations and struggle to achieve shape, color and form of what I carry inside. I feel I need to destroy defined lines and shapes in order to find my inner form. I need to reach an unpredictable terrain, the thrill of the unknown. At the same time, I look for an inner balance by floating adrift through my inner storms. As opposed to being in charge I’m taken by the strokes, free, at the same time unaware of what’s coming next, being almost impossible to realize when to rest the brush."
